About S&G Services
S&G Services had been the brainchild of Steve Turnbull and Graham Howe. Steve and Graham had worked together previously, at a local Northampton Independent garage, for over 16 years when they decided to make the break and start out on their own.
S&G Services was born on the first of October 2004, they took over premises at 19 Millbrook close, St James Business Park Northampton
With limited funds they initially started with a couple of four post ramps and a couple of two post ramps. Things soon became very busy and more staff were hired. They were very busy with the day to day work on cars and had a number of small – medium company vehicles to contend with. Over the next three years the garage purchased the latest air conditioning machine, diagnostic equipment and other specialised equipment needed to work on all modern vehicles.
As they had both been previous MOT Testers they were keen to add an MOT station to their resume. As it was, the premises they were in were not suitable to house the equipment needed to install a station.
An opportunity arose when a unit opposite came up for lease (unit 14) Steve & Graham jumped at the chance and took this building on too. They completely gutted it and installed new car / large van MOT equipment, a motor bike MOT test lane and an extra sill lift. Finally they could offer a full range of vehicle services
It became apparent very quickly that they were out growing the two sites that they operated from. So in late 2012 a larger unit came up (unit 23) it had ample parking and an extra parking lot to the side, with a little modification. It seemed like a lot of work to totally transform the new unit, adding an extra MOT lane, laser wheel alignment, tyre changing and balancing equipment as well as closing their other two existing units. But with long hours and working every weekend it turned out to be well worth while, now everything they needed was under one roof. With the extra room Steve & Graham were able to house up to 20 used cars, work on higher larger vans than they were before. Steve & Graham are still updating and increasing their equipment to meet the very latest vehicle specs, including a dual gas air conditioning machine extra diagnostic equipment etc.
